The Voyage

Image
I'm Kate Angela Rabena, and I'd like to introduce myself. I am a 15-year-old girl from Tamorong, Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur. My journey started on the 30th of August 2006 at Gabriela Silang General Hospital. You'll learn a lot about me, and a lot has happened in my life already, but there's still more to learn and discover in the future. I have a ton of interesting things about me, and I’ll be trying to state some of it here. Let’s get right into it!!             I am a 10th grade student from Ilocos Sur National Highschool (ISNHS), in a section named 10-Maxwell. I was the type of kid in elementary who always excelled in my classes and loved being creative, since then creating art really caught my heart. Being an architect has always been my dream because I love being creative and having a wide imagination on what I am going to create I something that I am passionate about. Becoming a doctor, flight atten...

An Admirable Man

Image
Every year, families all over the world plan activities to honor the special men in their lives on Father's Day. Father's Day is a holiday that honors and celebrates fathers and their impact on our lives. Father's Day reminds us of both the importance and the difficulties of fatherhood. Fathers do not always receive the same level of intimacy and admiration as mothers. Fathers are culturally portrayed as breadwinners, disciplinarians, and authority figures.             It's no surprise that the father we most frequently recognize in the Bible is the prodigal son's father. It is the most inspiring and revealing fatherhood story. It is the epitome of unconditional love. While we use that story to demonstrate God's grace and love, it is also intended to demonstrate how human fathers should be viewed. Fathers are often burdened by their responsibilities but are trained not to show it. This can obstruct both their ability to express affection and our ab...

Our Last Chapter

Image
I can't believe how quickly time passes these days; I remember the first day of this school year and being concerned about how I would cope with this new type of education. And now I'm writing my final post for this blog. Unfortunately, the final chapter of this school year is coming to an end; all of the hardships and challenges that this "new normal" threw at us proved that we could overcome them all. The start of the pandemic raised questions in my mind. The manner in which education will continue despite the absence of a physical presence within the four walls of the classroom. I was concerned about the quality of education because there would be no teachers guiding us directly to complete our tasks and learn. The first quarter of the school year was a steep climb; being new to modular learning presented challenges in adjusting to this new learning style.  It's been a difficult journey for me and all of us. The subject of Information and Communication Technolo...

Restoration of our Ecosystem

Image
We humans, as the superior of all living things on Earth, have absolute control, and with that power comes the responsibility to care for all God-given things that rest on and call Earth their home. However, our own shortcomings endanger their very existence; as we strive to improve our lives, we fail to recognize that there are those who suffer as a result. Our desire for betterment and comfort is draining and sucking the life force from all of our flora and fauna. Keeping them from flourishing, gradually fading away until they cease to exist and are only recorded in our history books. Since all forms of life are important, now is the time to take up our responsibilities as stewards of God's creation. From biodiversity to the ecosystem, all must be protected from the effects of human activity. Every year on June 5, World Environment Day is observed to raise awareness and generate action on a pressing environmental issue. The Day provides an opp...

A payback to our Heroes!!

Image
Given the country's history, it is undeniable how important freedom is to Filipinos. As we commemorate the 124th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we are reminded of the greatness of those who gave their lives in exchange for our freedom. Blood for blood, one life for a million lives. Hand-to-hand combat with a sphere, a roaring soul, and empowered minds. They fought and conquered for our Inang Bayan.       This year, I am confident that our country will observe Independence Day in the same manner. Little efforts are acknowledged not only in government offices and public places, but also in schools, businesses, and even in our own homes. Placing a small flag of our country in our vehicles, homes, and other public places shows our participation and appreciation in the aforementioned celebration. Even in schools, students create a flag to represent their unity on this occasion. The country has such a rich history. Being voiceless...

Heroes in all aspect

Image
Our mothers have been our heroes since the day we were born. They've become our safety net when we're all scared and troubled by the things that happen in our lives. Known as a great responsibility, particularly within the family. Every day, it amazes me to be able to watch my mother grow up. With all of the circumstances, sacrifices, and other actions, one thing is certain: mothers have love and dedication. I always look up to them because they make the world and our lives better. Every day is a blessing, but Mother's Day deserves special attention. It's a day when we should make an extra effort to show our mothers how grateful we are to have them in our lives. A day where we could make it special for them and show how much we adore them. We only see their happy smiles and laughter, right? Because that's how they want us to see them: joyful. But behind those are undoubtedly thoughts and concerns for the betterment of all. Raising a child is, in my opinion, on...

Commemorating Binatbatan Festival of Arts

Image
“Binatbatan Festival traces its roots from the abel weaving industry of Vigan which has been in existence even before the Spaniards came to colonize the Philippines.” The country is really full of cultures and traditions. And its citizens never fail to celebrate each and every one of it. Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, is a city that has stood the test of time. It has a traditional Hispanic checkerboard street plan. Its main street, Calle Crisilogo, is lined with structures made of brick and wood, with steeply pitched roofs reminiscent of traditional Chinese architecture. Vigan is an exceptionally intact and well-preserved example of an East and South-East Asian European trading town. Vigan was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 due to all of these characteristics.      The city’s impressive architecture matches its people. Local artists thrive in keeping the city vibrant through the Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts. Binatbatan was int...

We all live in a world that is so lovely, an ever-changing world that we all walk through, a world bathed in a brightness that warms our hearts and comforts us. Every one of us is facing and overcoming obstacles that would otherwise derail us. We're all in the same boat, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or views. The amazing people, however, are an exception. The reason for our happiness in this world. These unusual people exist due to their care and nurturing. These magnificent beings are WOMEN, and they have the potential to make a difference.    The National Women's Month Celebration is a tribute to the women of our country, a commemoration of their contributions to our society's history as well as to our own day. Women have steadily gained justice and rights over time. They have discovered their strength and have learned to fight for themselves for a better future. It is inspiring to witness the revolution of women's empowerment since the Biguena people are courag...
