Viva Vigan!

         

We Filipinos really enjoy celebrations and festivals. It is an event where everybody gets to embrace and express the love of their own culture. Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. Bigueños are very festive, and even if there is a pandemic, you can still feel the Christmas spirit. Being loved, exchanging hugs, giving presents, and eating a variety of delectable foods at Noche Buena are the best ways to celebrate the holiday with your dear ones. We face the pandemic and our problems with positivity, and we face them all together. Celebrating Christmas in this lovely city with our loved ones is one of the best memories we could all have. value this event so much that even those who live abroad return home to join their families and friends in celebrating their fiesta. This fiesta honors St. Paul the Apostle, the city's patron saint, and is held on the feast day of his conversion. The Metropolitan Cathedral in Vigan is dedicated to St. Paul and serves as the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur, a major Catholic educational institution in Vigan adjacent to the church, is also dedicated to the patron. The Vigan City Fiesta is usually held over a few days.

        Typically, the town fiesta includes an arts and crafts show, a trade and food fair, street dancing performances, and competitions from various schools. Bigueños are very festive, and even if there is a pandemic, you can still feel the Christmas spirit. However, due to the unexpected pandemic that we are currently experiencing, those happy memories and unforgettable gatherings with our friends and families that we all used to have during the fiesta didn't take place. It was sadly celebrated in our own homes, as well as on the internet and social media. Even in the midst of a crisis, our community values its culture and untold history. People had the opportunity to collaborate and participate in the government's online activities. The joy and love they feel for their beloved town city, is still in their hearts. Once a Bigueños, always a Bigueños is deeply ingrained in our minds and hearts! Let us live our lives to the fullest and make every moment memorable.
